All about Sweet marjoram

In the late summer to early fall tiny pink or white blooms will appear with the fuzzy oval leaves of this lightly aromatic perennial. Sweet marjoram has a delicate scent and flavor of oregano, and will grow to about 1 foot tall.  It is best suited for zones 9 and 10. Plant 3-5 seeds per pot, it is slow to germinate so be sure to start them 8 to 10 weeks before your last spring frost. Space 6 to 8 inches apart in low to moderate fertility soil in full sun and pick the leaves anytime after the plant is 6 to 8 inches tall. Sweet marjoram is great in  any meal you want a mild flavor of oregano; such as soups, pasta dishes or salads.  Due to it's nature sweet majoram can help settle an upset stomach or and with it's fragrance will add a wonderful scent to potpourris and sachets.
